Política de Coesão 2014-2020

A Comissão Europeia aprovou um pacote legislativo provisório que irá enquadrar a política de coesão para o período de 2014-2020. As novas propostas têm por objetivo reforçar a dimensão estratégica da política e assegurar que o investimento da UE é direcionado para as metas a longo prazo da Europa no âmbito do crescimento e do emprego ("Europa 2020").
Através de Contratos de Parceria acordados com a Comissão, os Estados-Membros comprometem-se a centrar a atenção num menor número de prioridades de investimento com base nessas metas. O pacote também harmoniza as regras dos vários fundos, incluindo os fundos de desenvolvimento rural e de assuntos marítimos e pescas, para aumentar a coerência da ação da UE.

Eurostat regional yearbook 2011

Statistical information is an important tool for understanding and quantifying the impact of political decisions on the citizens in a specific territory or region.
The Eurostat regional yearbook 2011 gives a detailed picture of a large number of statistical fields in the 27 Member States of the European Union, as well as in EFTA and candidate countries.
The text of each chapter has been written by specialists in statistics and is accompanied by maps, figures and tables.
A broad set of regional indicators are presented for the following 16 subjects: population, labour market, labour cost, education, health, European cities, gross domestic product, household accounts, structural business statistics, information society, tourism, land cover and land use, coastal regions, transport, science, technology and innovation, and last but not least, a study on trends in densely and thinly populated areas.

Educação para o empreendedorismo em crescimento

A educação para o empreendedorismo está em crescimento na maior parte dos países europeus, segundo um novo relatório publicado pela Comissão Europeia. Em oito países (Dinamarca, Estónia, Lituânia, Países Baixos, Suécia, Noruega, País de Gales e Bélgica, na Flandres) foram já lançadas estratégias específicas para promover a educação para o empreendedorismo, e noutros 13 (Áustria, Bulgária, República Checa, Finlândia, Grécia, Hungria, Islândia, Listenstaine, Polónia, Eslováquia, Eslovénia, Espanha e Turquia) já se incluem estes estudos nas estratégias nacionais no domínio da aprendizagem ao longo da vida, da juventude ou do crescimento. Metade dos países europeus está envolvida em processos de reformas no setor do ensino que incluem o reforço da educação para o empreendedorismo. A situação em 31 países europeus e cinco regiões foi avaliada para o relatório sobre o empreendedorismo no ensino escolar designado «Entrepreneurship Education at School in Europe».

"The euro crisis and subsequent policy responses have challenged the assumptions underpinning the governance of the euro area, and the relationship between the European Union’s euro- and non-euro countries. The euro policy regime has become increasingly complex and difficult to manage, raising the question of the accountability of decision making to citizens. Complexity also threatens to create frustration for euro area members, which fear that initiatives to strengthen the euro will be hindered, and for non-euro members, which fear that they will be de-facto deprived of their say in decisions of major relevance to them.
It is too early to determine if and how policy integration within the euro area will develop beyond its current limited monetary and budgetary remit. Alternative scenarios can be envisaged, from the building of a coherent euro area within the EU, to a fragmentation of the financial market and a generalised ‘variable geometry’.
Policy action should be based on the need to:
1. make room for deeper integration within the euro area, beyond the limited remit envisaged in the Lisbon treaty
2. preserve the integrity of the EU27 and its essential governance arrangements
3. ensure equal treatment in the application of common rules
4. ensure that candidates for euro-area membership have a voice in the definition of its rules
5. balance the requirements of legal clarity, accountability and efficiency with the desirability of experimentation through variable geometry.
